Bright spots

After 5 years you kinda forget how much work it is to take care of a baby.  You get spoiled when your 5 year old can get up in the morning by herself and get a snack.  Babies take a lot of time and energy.  Add to that the daily chores you must do to not end up living in filth and starving to death.

Overwhelmed is an understatement.  I started getting sad about it all today when I looked at the list of things I have to get done today.  Grocery shopping, putting away said groceries, 5 loads of laundry, dishes, make the bed, light cleaning so I don't die tripping over toys, etc.  Add to that taking care of 2 kids and a dog.  Getting ready for school, getting breakfast, packing a lunch, feeding baby, changing baby, cloth baby, feeding dog, walking to school, walk dog around block,  picking up dog poop, feeding baby again, changing baby again...all while trying to keep the baby from crying because you aren't holding her.

It's depressing.  All I want is to be able to add something fun to my list and actually get to do it.  I have had so many things that I have wanted to make but I just don't have the time to get the stuff out and actually do it.

So in an effort to cheer myself up I decided to walk around my house and find those little things that I see and walk by everyday that make me happy.  I just need to remember to seek those things when I am feeling overwhelmed.

Yes I just complained about this one but her little smile will melt your heart

I just complained about this one too but a dogs unconditional love and happiness is like nothing else.  You can leave the house for 30 seconds and come back and they act like you have been gone for days.

How can a giant jar of bouncy balls not make you smile?

Great notes from a 5 year old

My opossum picture

Wanting some skimmer jeans and finding a pair of too short jeans in your closet that you already had.  And they aren't too tight.  Perfect.

Hello.....I'm still alive!

Remember me?  I had a baby almost 5 month ago and fell off the face of the earth.

Actually, truth is I got a very demanding and needy baby.  Yes all babies are needy, but this one way more than most.  She doesn't like when I put her down.  I mean I can put her down but she almost immediately starts crying.  Sometimes I can get a good 10 minutes of quiet when I put her in the excersaucer, but when she's had enough she lets you know it.

So when I want or need to get things done it has to wait until she is napping.  Like right now.  Shhhhhhh!

I decided I really want to finish up decorating and/or painting the rest of my house.  The bedrooms are pretty close but still need the windows painted.  The living room could use some pictures, the crown molding painted, and the windows painted.  You can see I have been putting off the fun stuff.  Who likes painting windows?

So I decided to start with the smallest room in the house.  The laundry room.  It was also the room that was closest to being finished.  It just needed a few wall decorations.

I saw these giant pins a while back and have been wanting them since then.  I'm cheap though so I waited until they had them on sale.  They were still expensive but I love them.  I ended up painting them since they looked a little too rustic in their original state.

So without further ado here is my lovely itsy bitsy laundry room.

Don't mind my ugly printer

I'd like to get cuter shelves at some point

A place to hang missing socks

Love these salt & pepper shakers

Awesome gifts from awesome friends

Still loving my perfect floor

I love how everything turned out.  It's actually given me a little motivation to finish the rest of the house now.  If only I could keep this baby from crying.

365 - Done

Well I'm finally finished with my 365 project.  The most surprising thing about the whole thing is that I finished.  I did cheat a little and didn't take pictures some days and made up with it by taking more on others.  I finished though and that's all that matters.

In the end I'm super glad I did it because it was such a big year in our house.  No I didn't get a lot done around the house, but I did grow a human.  Go me!
