Fabulous

How fascinating is this guy? His house is a wonder.

Shows what you can do with a little imagination and a lot of old junk.

A Tangled Mess

This is what my necklaces currently look like.

They have been like this since we moved here. At our old house I hung them from Ikea hooks in the bathroom. Like this.

I have more necklaces now so I was hoping to display them in a better, cuter, more efficient way.
I was thinking I could make something to store and display them but I don't think that is going to happen any time soon.

I need a solution now!!!

Problem is that I am cheap. I like this one from Urban Outfitters but I think it might be too small plus I can't pay $10 for shipping.

Help!!! Anyone have any suggestions?

Who Needs an Ipod

when you have a washer and dryer that play music?

I'm not sure about you but I've always had washers and dryers that make that awful loud buzzzzzzzzzzz at the end of their cycle. So I was a bit surprised to hear this little ditty at the end of my first wash last week (the dryer plays the same song). Kinda makes you want to do laundry just to hear the song.

The Girls

As much as I love the new house there are two other girls that ADORE the new house. Both Finley and Isabel Clownsnack have been having a blast spreading their wings. They both have so much more room to run around it has made them both a little easier to deal with.

I say a little because my sweet little Finley is seriously right in the middle of the terrible 3's. Testing not only my patience but Daddy's as well. It must be pretty bad when even Daddy uses a strong voice towards Finley.

Clown loves going out every morning and laying in the sunshine. Don't mind the dirt and rubbish about. We're working on it.

Then on to her favorite thing to do, playing ball. Never mind that she would rather keep it away from you then have you throw it.

Look at that dog smile.

She also loves looking out the front window.
We lived in a back duplex before so she couldn't really see what was going on out front.

I'm kinda glad Finley didn't have her own room before because now she really loves her new room. It's the first thing she wants to show anyone who comes over to visit. She loves playing in there. She also got a new Big big girl bed. Which I love because now I can lay in bed with her and read to her.

The layout makes a perfect circle for Finley to be able to run around.

She also likes the new chair clowny won. She uses it to play her games and listen to records.

Because she decided to become a graffiti artist...

we punished her by making her mow the lawn.

She does get to have a little fun outside playing bubbles and stuff.

Here she is plotting her next graffiti tag. You can just tell that little brain is up to something.

Back to School

Our laundry room had that awful roll vinyl flooring. Something which I could not live with. I wanted to replace it with something fun and bright that matched the blue tile in the adjacent kitchen. I've always wanted to do a floor in VCT, (think the kind of tiles that they use is schools) so that is what we used. We had our friend Jerry put it in for us and it looks absolutely fabulous.

We also finally got our new washer and dryer which are beautiful. Too bad I can't use the yet because the water supplies are leaking too bad. Mount dirty laundry is about to overtake our house.

Here's what the laundry room floor looked like before.

Just for fun here is what the original floor in 1950 looked like.

A little closer look.
The fun thing about the original floor is if you look really close some of those little squares are glittery.

Now for the new.

Cutting down the tiles from 12" to 9". According to our flooring expert 9" tiles would be a more appropriate size for the age of the house and also since the room is so tiny we get more pattern in the small space.

Here it is now. In all of its glorious beauty. I really, really, really love it.

Wonderful washer and dryer. The space is pretty small so it's hard to get a picture of both of them together.

Now I just need to find some cute little shelves to put my soap and other laundry things. I'm also going to make a little cafe curtain with a funky print fabric. I've been searching but can't find the perfect fabric just yet.

Progress Report

I thought I would give you all a little progress video of sorts. There really hasn't been a ton of progress other than moving in tremendous amounts of junk. We still have a ton to do but it is feeling like home to us already.

Just the Beginning

We officially moved into our new house 6 days ago. The weird thing about it is I thought that I was going to be really sad to leave the place where we had lived so long, but I haven't missed it one bit. From the first night here at the new place it has felt like home. Like we have lived here forever.

In between opening boxes and moving piles of stuff I have been painting. Finn's room first, then our room. I knew what color I wanted to paint Finley's room for a long time. Our room not so much. I asked Matt what color he wanted and he said green. Loved his answer as green is my favorite color.

We also had our friend Jerry put in a new sub-floor in our room since there was only some old icky carpet padding in there. Since we can't afford carpeting right now I just painted the floor with patio paint for an urban, garage, home depot kind of look.

I also painted the closet in our room with some blue oops paint from Home Depot and added the cheapo closet organizer from our old closet. Notice how I didn't split the closet equally? My side is a little bit bigger. I would have taken even more space if I thought I could get away with it. I also re-purposed some Flor tiles I had by lining them on the bottom of the closet. I like the way it turned out.

Here are a few little before and after peaks.
